The company, founded by Cincinnati native Mike Cunningham, has seen tremendous growth in the past 11 years. Boulder Creek Dining Company, an upscale, casual restaurant with mountain lodge décor, was the company’s first restaurant and opened in Brownsburg in 1997. Following the success of Boulder Creek, Cunningham moved to Avon in 1999 to open Charbonos, which welcomes guests to the Tuscan countryside and serves up ample portions of salads, pastas featuring housemade sauces, tender steaks and wood-fired pizzas. Cunningham then opened his first stand-alone restaurant on the southside in 2003, Stone Creek Dining Company. This new addition blended the casual elegance of Charbonos with the hearty warmth of Boulder Creek in a more contemporary setting. The menu was a chance to experiment and features a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, seafood, pastas, steaks, chops and chicken. The restaurant was such a success, that Stone Creek Plainfield soon followed in 2005, Stone Creek Zionsville in February 2007, Stone Creek Montgomery, located in Cunningham’s hometown of Cincinnati, in August 2007 and Stone Creek Noblesville in 2008.
